MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis (16-26, 4-13 AAC) softball dropped its second game against Charlotte (22-22, 10-7 AAC), falling 12-2 in six innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After Arianna Cox-Cole singled and stole second base to begin the bottom of the first inning, Zoe Adebayo executed a sacrifice bunt to move her to third. She would be stranded to end the inning.
In the second inning, Charlotte gained the lead on a two-run home run by Jaylah Jarrell.
The 49ers added three runs in the third, taking advantage of a Memphis error for the first run of the frame.
- Teagan Ritchie lined a ball to left field that resulted in an error on the attempted catch, allowing one run to score.
- The next batter, Kari Shedrick, brought another run home with a single.
- Jaylah Jarrell recorded her third RBI of the contest on a sacrifice fly.
A sacrifice fly off the bat of Jenna Lord gave Charlotte a six-run lead in the fourth inning.
The Tigers stranded two runners in the bottom half of the fourth.
After allowing two singles to begin the fifth inning, Memphis worked out of the jam when Kayla Clement caught a line drive and completed the double play with a throw to first.
Charlotte doubled its run total with six runs in the sixth inning, putting the game into a possible mercy rule situation.
- Jenna Lord hit a two-RBI triple down the right field line. The play was challenged for a possible foul ball and was upheld after review.
- Lord scored on the following play when Teagan Ritchie singled through the left side.
- Kari Shedrick recorded her second home run of the weekend on a two-run shot during the next at-bat.
- Three batters later, a single by Brelyn O'Hearn brought in Charlotte's sixth run of the frame.
The shutout bid came to an end when Neely Taylor doubled to right field and scored due to the ball being mishandled by the Charlotte right fielder.
Zoe Adebayo sent a full-count pitch to right center for a home run during the next at-bat.
- Two of the next three Memphis batters failed to reach, ending the game on a mercy rule.

NOTABLES

Rylee Dugar went five innings, taking the loss and moving to 5-8 on the season.
Arianna Cox-Cole extended her hit streak to four games with a single during today's contest.
Zoe Adebayo recorded Memphis' only RBI of the game with her eighth home run of the season.
- She has doubled her home run total from 2024, where she also led the team with four home runs during last season.
Ariel Davis finished with one hit, also reaching base on a walk.
Mia Brown made her return after missing the previous eight games with an injury.
Neely Taylor recorded a double and came around to score in her team-leading 42nd start of the season.
