
Tigers Add Frontcourt Presence in Gaines

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's basketball announced the signing of Paris Gaines to the 2025-26 roster, the sixth transfer portal addition of the offseason.
Gaines comes to Memphis from Georgia Southern, where she made 16 appearance and six starts as a sophomore before suffering an injury. Shooting 50.5% from the floor, the 6-foot-3 center averaged 7.4 points per game to go with 4.8 rebounds. She recorded her first double-double against Florida Atlantic on Dec. 18, posting 10 points and 12 rebounds.
A connective passer with a versatile offensive game, Gaines ranked fifth on the Eagles in assists per game (1.7) in 2024-25, recording two games with six assists, both in conference play. She also shot 41.6% on midrange jumpers last year, taking just over four per game (BartTorvik.com).
Hailing from Orlando, Florida, Gaines averaged 5.7 blocked shots per game her senior season at Jones High School and was recruited to Kansas, where she played in seven games during her freshman season.
Gaines joins Amauri Williams (Prairie View A&M) as the two frontcourt additions to the 2025-26 team. Jordan Hunter (Auburn), Cori Allen (Illinois) and Brooklyn and Kennedi Alexander (Tulsa) have also signed on to Alex Simmons' third Memphis team.
