Tigers Send 16 to NCAA East Regional Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sixteen members of Memphis track and field will compete at the NCAA East Regional Championships beginning on Wednesday, May 28.
Hosted by North Florida at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium, the events will kick off on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m. CT and run through the evening of Saturday, May 31. Event times, live results and ESPN+ streaming information can be found above.
The Tigers' 16 regional qualifiers are the most since 2021, when they also sent 16. Prior Ochonogor is the highest seeded competitor for Memphis, ranking sixth in the 400-meter hurdles behind a school-record 49.87 time at the conference championships. Gabriel Koletsi ranks eighth in the javelin.
AAC Outdoor Champions Sascha Salesius Schmidt (shot put) and Oageng Mdlela (triple jump) will also compete in Jacksonville. Rounding out the males are Jamal Mitchell (discus) and Kouto Anyika (200 meters).
Four of the 10 female qualifiers come from the school-record-holding 4x400-meter relay team of Kameron Scille, Ivory Davis, Dejona Simpson and Gabrielle Cross, who ran a 3:32.27 at the Tom Jones Invitational in April. Davis (100m hurdles) and Simpson (200m, 400m) will also compete as individuals.
Jazmyn James qualified for the shot put and the discus for the second consecutive year, and javelin throwers Adela Mullerova, Julia Konigshofer and Maddie Roberts will also compete as throwers for Memphis. Gizel Clayton (100m hurdles) and Judy Elful (400m hurdles) comprise the final Memphis participants.
