T&F Meet Four: Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Memphis track and field travels to Nashville for the Music City Challenge on Friday, February 13, and Saturday, February 14.
Vanderbilt University will host the two-day meet at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility. The men's weight throw kicks off the action Friday at 10 a.m., followed by the mile at 4:45 p.m. On Saturday, the women's 3,000 meters begins at 8:30 a.m., with the shot put starting field events at 9 a.m. This weekend's meet will be broadcast on SECN+ which is link above as well live results and schedule.
Memphis is one of 51 schools participating in this weekend's meet and one of four representing the American, alongside Florida Atlantic, Tulane and UAB. The deep field is highlighted by national powers from the P4: Alabama, Indiana, Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Purdue and Vanderbilt.
The Tigers opened 2026 with a dominant performance last weekend at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational and UAB Invite, winning seven events and recording 36 top-five finishes.
Poorna Raorane and Jazmyn James highlighted the Tigers' weekend in the shot put. James currently ranks 45th in NCAA Division I after a career-best throw of 16.04 meters. Raorane, who won the event Friday with a 15.16-meter toss, improved her mark on the second day of the UAB Invite; her 15.28-meter throw currently ranks 80th nationally.
Oageng Mdlela's 15.41 meters in the triple jump secured a first-place victory and currently sits 67th in the nation. The following day, Mdlela added a third-place finish in the long jump at 6.92 meters.
On the track, Robert Randall and Ann-Marie Braese won their respective 5,000-meter races. Randall ran a personal-best 14:45.60, while Braese finished in 17:51.98.
