Tigers Fall to No. 69 Flames, 5-0

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team suffered a 5-0 defeat to No. 69 Liberty on Sunday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.
Only two doubles matches were played due to Memphis only being able to play five players. Clemence Thoaurd/Rebecca Frant fell 6-0 on court two to clinch the doubles point for Liberty. Sofiia Mykhailets/Emma Dvorackova were tied at 2-2 in their match on court one before it was left unfinished.
Liberty went into singles with a 2-0 lead after Memphis was forced to forfeit court six. The Flames won the first set in all five singles matches. Court five finished first and saw Celina Joseph defeat Marina Lubsheva 6-1, 6-0. Liberty clinched the match after two wins on court three and four. Sofiia Mykhailets battled back to win the second set in her match before it was left unfinished.
Memphis falls to 2-11 and will be back in action Friday, March 13 against University of California, Santa Barbara. First serve is set for 3 p.m. back in Santa Barbara, Calif.
