Lourenco Takes Lead as Tigers Surge to First at American Conference Championships

SARASOTA, Fla. – The University of Memphis men's golf team delivered a dominant second-round performance Tuesday, surging into first place at the American Conference Championships at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club.

The Tigers fired a 14-under-par 274 on Tuesday to move to 30-under for the tournament. Memphis currently holds a four-stroke lead over Charlotte (-26) heading into the final day of play.
Diego Lourenco climbed six spots on the leaderboard to claim the individual lead. Lourenco fired a 7-under-par 65 to move to 12-under for the tournament, giving him a one-stroke advantage over the field.
Yixiang Wang and Christian Morneau each fired a 3-under-par 69 to move into a tie for 10th place. They are joined at 10th by Cian O'Connor, who sits at 5-under overall following a second-round 74. Tobey Kim remains in the hunt, sitting in 19th place after recording a 1-under 71.
The Tigers look to clinch the American Conference title during the final round on Wednesday, April 29.
