Lourenco Claims Individual Champion, Tigers Finish Second at American Conference Tournament

SARASOTA, Fla. Junior Diego Lourenco captured the Individual Championship while the University of Memphis men's golf team finished as the runner-up on Wednesday at the American Conference Championships held at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club.

This marks the first individual title at the American Conference Championships for the Tigers, and Lourenco becomes the program's first individual conference champion since Jonathan Fly captured the Conference USA title in 2011. The runner-up finish also represents the best overall team result for Memphis since they won the American Conference Championship in

Lourenco finished the 54-hole tournament tied with Charlotte's Chase Cline at 14-under par, forcing a sudden-death playoff. The Orleans, France native, showcased incredible composure, ultimately securing his second victory of the season after Cline was forced to take a penalty drop on the playoff hole.
With a total score of 202 (67-65-70), Lourenco shattered his previous personal 54-hole record by three strokes, improving upon his previous best of 205.
Cian O'Connor and Christian Morneau followed Lourenco, each carding a final-round 73 to finish tied for 14th at 4-under par 212. The tournament total marked a new career-low 54-hole score for Morneau, besting his previous record. Yixiang Wang remained in the mix, finishing just one stroke back at 3-under par 213, while Tobey Kim closed out the Tiger lineup with a 1-under par 71 to finish at 215 for the tournament.
