MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis women's soccer is adding Brianne Casey to the staff as an associate head coach, Brooks Monaghan announced Monday.
"I am delighted to have Bri joining our staff. Through the process it became obvious that she was the perfect fit for Memphis. Not only is she a tireless worker, she is also a great human being. She truly does possess all the qualities that it takes to win at this level. I can't wait for our players to meet her as I know they will connect with her immediately. Please help us welcome Bri as the newest member of our Tiger family!" said Monaghan.
Casey arrives in Memphis after eight seasons on the coaching staff at the University at Buffalo, where she helped transform the Bulls into one of the Mid-American Conference's premier programs. Since joining the staff in 2019, Casey played an integral role in Buffalo's success, including two MAC Championship game appearances, a MAC Tournament Championship, a regular-season conference title and an NCAA Tournament berth.
During a memorable 2024 campaign, Casey helped guide the Bulls to another MAC Championship game appearance while overseeing one of the nation's top defensive units. Buffalo led the conference and ranked among the top 20 nationally in goals-against average (0.70), save percentage (.848) and shutout percentage (.550). The Bulls also earned five All-MAC selections and four All-Region honors.
Casey was instrumental in Buffalo's historic 2022 season, helping lead the program to its second regular-season MAC Championship, second MAC Tournament title and second NCAA Tournament appearance. The Bulls posted a program-record 17-match unbeaten streak and recorded 14 shutouts, tying the school record. Under Casey's guidance, goalkeeper Emily Kelly earned MAC Goalkeeper of the Year honors and finished her career as the winningest goalkeeper in program history with 54 victories and 35 shutouts.
Throughout her tenure at Buffalo, Casey developed some of the conference's top defensive players and goalkeepers. The Bulls consistently ranked among the MAC's best defensive teams, recording eight shutouts in 2021, five All-MAC selections during the 2020-21 spring season and multiple All-Region and All-America honorees.
Prior to Buffalo, Casey spent two seasons at Southern Connecticut State University, where her responsibilities included goalkeeper development, recruiting, training session implementation, scouting reports and team operations.
A native of Columbia, Connecticut, Casey completed her playing career at Southern Connecticut State in 2016 after beginning her collegiate career at Central Connecticut State University. She helped the Blue Devils capture a Northeast Conference championship and earn an NCAA Tournament appearance while earning multiple academic honors throughout her collegiate career.
"I am incredibly grateful for the trust Coach Monaghan and his staff are placing in me to be a part of their program. Memphis women's soccer has established itself among the best in the nation yet maintains an inspiring hunger to always raise the bar. The work ethic and passion of the staff, players and athletic department is contagious. I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining Memphis Women's soccer and ready to get to work!" said Casey.
Casey holds a U.S. Soccer National C Coaching License and an Advanced National Diploma from United Soccer Coaches. She has also coached with the Western New York Flash, CFC Sound Football Club and the Connecticut Soccer School.
