NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers (0-1) dropped their season opener to the Lipscomb Bisons (1-0) in four sets on Friday evening inside Allen Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb took control in the opening set, starting on a 15-5 run before a pair of kills from Tori Hill gave the Tigers brief momentum. The Bisons continued to dominate the remainder of the set, taking the opener 25-9.

The second set proved to be a battle, with both teams trading points until a 5-0 run gave Lipscomb an 8-5 advantage following several Tiger errors and a block by Lexi Guinn and Sydney Strenger. Memphis responded with kills from Caitlyn Little, Dawn Moore and Hill to stay within striking distance. Capping the rally with a late solo block and an ace from Arianna Mongare, Memphis took the second set 25-23 to even the match at 1-1.

Both teams went point-for-point to start the third set before Guinn sparked a 7-0 run with a kill for the Bisons. Memphis answered with a 3-0 run followed by a 4-0 run to level the score at 10 points apiece. After 11 total ties throughout the frame, Lipscomb pulled ahead for good with a kill from Brooklyn Fuchs and an ace by Ella Durham to secure a 25-23 set win.

Lipscomb jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the fourth set before Lily Hamilton, Little and Moore sparked the Memphis offense to pull within two. Lipscomb regained momentum off two service errors and back-to-back kills. A kill from Moore and a block assist from Little and Kaylee Parker brought the Tigers close, but the Bisons closed on a 3-0 run to seal the set (25-22) and the match.

Six Tigers made their debut in tonight's match: Caitlyn Little, Tori Hill, Dawn Moore, Lily Hamilton, Kaylee Parker and Jordan Turner.
Little led Memphis with 13 kills while adding nine digs
Abigail Schlueter anchored the defense with 21 digs
Hill recorded the team's first double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs.
- The last player to log a double-double was Maddy Bach against East Carolina last season on Nov. 16
