Memphis Men’s Golf Earns Historic Recognition in Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches’ Poll

NORMAN, OKLA. – After opening the season with back-to-back top-five finishes, the University of Memphis men's golf team has earned national recognition in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches' Poll, the association announced Friday.
The Tigers received 11 votes, marking the highest total recorded by the program since at least the 2005-06 season. It is also the first time Memphis has received votes in the national poll since Oct. 22, 2015, and the first time receiving multiple votes since Oct. 11, 2013.
Memphis earned the recognition following standout performances at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate and the Bearcat Invitational. The Tigers placed second in Knoxville with an 11-under-par 829, finishing ahead of several Power Four programs, including Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi State. Memphis followed that performance by carding a 7-under-par 845 to finish fourth at the Bearcat Invitational.
Yixiang Wang has fueled the Tigers' strong fall campaign, posting a team-leading 68.0 stroke average. Wang finished tied for fourth in Knoxville before taking third place at the Bearcat Invitational.

The Tigers are back in action in Lexington, Kentucky for the Cullan Brown Invitational starting on Monday, Oct. 5 at the Lexington Country Club.
