Lydia Fuson was hired in June 2026 as the Associate Director of Athletic Academic Services. In her role, Fuson oversees the total academic success, progress towards graduation and NCAA compliances for the men's basketball and women's golf programs at the University of Memphis.

Prior to joining the university, Fuson was a high school educator in the Memphis area for a decade at Melrose High School (2016-17), Kingsbury High School (2017-20) and Hutchison School (2020-26) from 2016-2026, also coaching women's soccer and softball at Kingsbury and soccer at Hutchison School.

Fuson received a bachelor of science in biology from Christian Brothers University, where she was a member of the women's soccer team and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority after beginning her collegiate playing career at Maryville College. She received a master's degree in urban education from Union University through the Memphis Teacher Residency program.

Fuson is an avid fan of Pokemon, being able to name all 1,029, plays local trivia in the Memphis area and is Memphis' self-proclaimed best undiscovered tour guide. She enjoys showing people around the city of Memphis and spending time with her dog, Stella.
