Memphis Set for Home Conference Clash Against UAB and Tulane

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team returns to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse this week to host its first American Conference home matches of the season.
The Tigers face UAB on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. before wrapping up the week against Tulane on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (5-8, 0-2 American) aims to bounce back after opening conference play on the road with losses to Wichita State and Tulsa.
Caitlyn Little led the Tigers offensively last weekend, pacing the attack with 33 kills, averaging 4.13 kills per set. Little leads the American in overall kills at 200 and kills per set at 4.08, while also holding the top spot in service aces per set at 0.41.
Setter Sydney Marshall recorded back-to-back 41 assist performances over the weekend. The junior ranks fourth in the conference with 9.08 assists per set. Senior libero Abigail Schlueter, who ranks among the top 10 all time in digs in program history, added 31 digs over the two matches, averaging 3.88 per set. Schlueter sits third in the American averaging 3.61 digs per set.

UAB (6-8, 0-2 American) enters the week on a five-game skid after falling in straight sets to Temple and five sets to Rice last weekend. Mia Reese leads the Blazers attack, ranking 10th in the American with 3.00 kills per set and 156 total kills. Rachel McCollum averages 5.24 assists per set with 288 total, while Kennedy Vaughn posts 3.00 digs per set.
Tulane (10-2, 2-0 American) brings a six-game winning streak to Memphis after defeating UTSA and North Texas to open conference action. Outside hitter Avery Burks was named this week's American Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording 29 kills, averaging 3.63 per set with a .418 hitting percentage. Setter Charlee Solomon leads the conference in assists per set at 10.25, dishing out 85 assists across eight sets last weekend.
THE SERIES BETWEEN THE BLAZERS & GREEN WAVE
Wednesday marks the 83rd all-time meeting between Memphis and UAB. While the Tigers hold an 18-9 advantage at home, the Blazers have taken the last three matchups overall.
Memphis and Tulane clash for the 59th time on Friday, with the Tigers holding a 34-24 series lead. Memphis won the most recent matchup in New Orleans last season, though Tulane claimed the last meeting in Memphis in 2024.
