MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The University of Memphis men's soccer team faced a quick and determined Central Arkansas team Friday night at Echles Field.
Just ten minutes into the game, UCA's Brett Johnson put a shot past Memphis keeper Chris Letterman to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.
Memphis midfielder Michael Shipman tied the score in the 22nd minute on a rocket shot from the right side that bounced off the keeper's hands and sailed into the back of the net.
Less than a minute later, however, Johnson scored again off of a header from Brock Dickinson to give the Bears a 2-1 lead heading into the half.
Ten minutes int the second half, UCA's Nick Sherwood added to the lead with an unassisted goal, and in the 78th minute Kyle Kyfer put the Bears up 4-1.
The Tigers put up a late offensive fight led by Steven Brooks and Sean Fraser, and Fraser was able to make it a two-goal differential when he scored off of a pass from Brooks. It was too late, and the Tigers fell to 6-10 on the season.
The Tigers next play at home on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 against Oral Roberts, and their final home game is next Friday, November 5th at 7:00.
That game, which will be against South Florida, will be the final game for six Tiger Seniors.
