Memphis Volleyball Losing Steak Extends To Four

Memphis, Tenn. - The University of Memphis (7-9, 1-3) volleyball team dropped its fourth consecutive match, 3-1, to Tulane (7-7, 1-3), Friday. It was Tulane's first Conference USA win this season.
Green Wave junior opposite hitter Kim Sentmore (New Orleans, La./O. Perry Walker), who is currently ranked 11th in the country in kills per game, led an offensive charge which the Tigers were unable to match. Sentmore finished with 21 kills and nine digs on 51 attempts. She was one of four Tulane players to post double-digit kills. Senior Lacey Vicknair (Metairie, LA/Ecole Classique) finished with 13 kills, while Ashley Reese (New Orelans, LA/Sacred Heart) and Lindsey Bennett (Port Allen, LA/St. Joseph's Academy) added 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
Senior Rosie Glenn (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) and redshirt freshman Lindsay Bax (Port Hope, Ontario/Cobourg West) led the Tigers with 14 and 11 kills.
Tulane came out and took advantage of a Tiger offense which hit just -.049 to take a 15-6 opening game. Both teams hit above .300 in the second game, with the Green Wave holding off Memphis, 15-9.
The third game found a rejuvenated Tiger team, that hit .233, while Tulane hit .048 and committed their first service errors of the game.
The fourth game stayed locked at 5-4, Tulane, for a stretch before Sentmore and company again went to work, hitting .250 and taking the final game 15-7.
Tulane now travels to Alabama-Birmingham for a 2 p.m. Sunday match-up while the Tigers host C-USA foe Southern Mississippi, Sunday at 2 p.m.
