MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis baseball team played host to the University of Houston on Friday night at USA Stadium in Millington.

The Cougers stretched their lead in the seventh, When Michael Bourn reached on a walk and scored off of a double by Mitchell. Mitchell then added one more by scoring off of a single by Chris Snyder.
The Tigers (12-7) threatened in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Daniel Uggla doubled down the right field line and later scored on a single off the bat of Tiger catcher Barrett Smith. Later in the inning, Josh Payne stepped to the plate with two runners on base and two outs. He launched a shot to left center that came up about five feet short of a lead-changing home run.
