TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Memphis posted its highest win total in three years with a 5-1 victory at C-USA foe South Florida, Sunday. The win improves the Lady Tigers to 13-5 overall and 4-1 in league play. The 13 total wins are the most for the Lady Tigers since the 1999-2000 season when they won 16 matches. The loss drops USF to 9-10 overall in their regular season finale.
The teams did not play doubles due to inclement weather in the area. The Lady Tigers came out and jumped on the Bulls early and never looked back. Senior Sabrina Lindemann won her third straight match at No. 1 singles when she downed Fabiana Taverna, 6-2, 6-0. Fellow senior Monica Gonzalez-Gordo, the C-USA women's player of the week last week, continued her winning streak, picking up her fourth straight win, 6-3, 6-2.
The lone Bull to pick up a singles win was Luisa Obando at No. 3 where she defeated Sumitra Rao, 7-5, 7-6(10-2).
Memphis wraps its Florida road swing, Monday, at UCF in Orlando.
