Big Second Round Leads Tigers at Quail Valley Collegiate

VERO BEACH, Fla. - Behind an even par day from senior Sydney Chung, the Memphis Tigers stand in 12th place in the strong field at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate.
Played at the par 72, 7,350-yard Quail Valley Golf Club, Chung started the day with a two-under 70, before shooting a 74 for the second round, keeping him at even par, and standing in a tie for 28th in the field.
The Tigers shot sub-300 for both rounds, carding a 296 through the first 18 holes, before rebounding with a 287, climbing three spots with the effort and finishing the second round one stroke under par as a team.
Michigan State is the leader after the first day, carding a two-round aggregate score of 15 strokes under par, while Jacksonville and Arkansas are 14 and 13 strokes under par, respectively.
Nick Giles shot a seven-over 79 through the first round, before carding the lowest round for the team on the day, carding a five-under 67, dropping him to two strokes over par, and tied for 43rd overall.

JC Campbell shot rounds of 77 and 70, as his 147 has him at three strokes over par with 18 holes to play in the tournament. His scores have him tied for 48th overall in the field.

Kevin Lee and Camden Backel each finished seven strokes over par for the day, Lee shooting rounds of 75 and 76 for his 151, while Backel carded rounds of 74 and 77. The pair are tied for 66th overall in the tournament.

The Tigers return to action for the third and final day of the competition. Memphis tees off with North Texas and McNeese State. Sydney Chung will tee off on the 11th hole, Nick Giles the 12th, JC Campbell first off of the 13th, Kevin Lee second off of the 13th, and Camden Backel the 14th.
