Men's Golf Opens 2016-17 Season in Georgia

DALTON, Ga. - The Memphis men's golf program will look to continue from its strong finish during the 2015-16 season, which saw Memphis advance to the NCAA Regionals, opening play at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Friday, September 9.
"We are excited to kick things off and to do it at the Carpet Capital Collegiate," said Memphis head coach Blake Smart. "This is a huge opportunity for this team and program."

NEW FACES
Of the five players entered in the tournament, only two - Kevin Lee and Sydney Chung - saw action last season. Lee averaged 76.2 strokes per round, while Chung averaged 74.7. Mikko Kauniskangas was a member of the squad last season but never saw the course, while Backel and Giles are newcomers to the squad.
"We have 3 new faces in the lineup this week and qualifying has been very good the in the days leading up to the event," said Memphis head coach Blake Smart. "We will do our best to be the most prepared team in the field and add them up at the end of the tournament."
