Women’s Soccer Returns Home This Weekend

The Tigers will host Temple Thursday and UConn Sunday for Senior Day
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's soccer team has its final two home contests of the 2017 season this upcoming weekend, beginning with Temple Thursday evening at 7 p.m. and ending with UConn Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Thursday's contest will be played at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex while Sunday's match is at the Billy J. Murphy Track and Soccer Complex.

A Look at Temple
Temple heads to Memphis following a 3-0 setback against Cincinnati. The Owls are currently standing at 5-5-1 overall and 1-1-0 in American Athletic Conference play. The lone conference victory for Temple was against ECU on Sept. 28.
The road trip to Memphis begins the first of two matches on the road this weekend. Temple will take on Tulsa on Sunday.
Three Temple players in Kerri McGinley, Elena Falcone, and Gabriella McKeown each have three goals on the season. Goalkeeping duties for the Owls are split between Morgan Basileo and Jordan Nash. The two keepers have combined to allow 13 goals while saving 54 shots. The Temple goalkeepers combine for three shutouts this year.
A Look at UConn
Sitting at 3-5-3 before the start of the weekend, UConn will open up its long road trip at Tulsa Thursday evening. The Huskies are 1-1 overall in American Athletic Conference play, coming off of a 2-1 victory over ECU.
Kess Elmore leads the Huskies this season with five goals scored while three players in Vivien Bell, Elena Santos, and Liane Keegans all have two assists. Mollie Kerrigan has recorded just shy of 900 minutes in the net for the Huskies with a goals against average of 1.21 and save percentage of .750.
UConn was picked to finish fifth in the AAC behind the Tigers, SMU, Cincinnati, and USF. The toughest losses on the roster for the Huskies were Stephanie Ribeiro and Rachel Hill who finished the 2016 season with a combined 37 goals scored.

- These are the final two home contests of the season for the Tigers. Memphis is 5-1-1 this season in Memphis.
- Against UConn, Memphis will recognize its five seniors in defenders Necee Jennings, Sydney Kingston, and Sessen Stevens, forward Alyxandria Stafford, and student manager Lauren Sobral. The Senior Day ceremony will take place before the start of the match.
- Memphis ranks in the top 25 in team scoring offense in the NCAA. The Tigers have scored 31 goals this season, led by Elizabeth Woerner's eight goals.
- Head coach Brooks Monaghan is in his 18th season as the head coach of the Tigers. He currently has 98 conference victories in his tenured career.
- Three Tigers were selected to the preseason all-conference team in Olivia Gauthier, Marie Levasseur, and Jessica Lisi. Levasseur and Lisi account for a combined nine of Memphis' 31 goals scored this year.
