Tigers sophomore earned the Tiger Invitational MOP last weekend.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis sophomore Hannah Flowers has been to the American Athletic Conference volleyball Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday. It is Flowers' first conference honor of her career.
It is the second-straight week the 6-foot-2 right side hitter has been recognized for her play on the court. Last week, she was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Player of the Week.
Last weekend, Flowers helped lead Memphis to a 3-0 record and the Tiger Invitational crown. The Tigers posted victories over Louisiana Monroe, Tennessee Tech and North Alabama in claiming the title. For her efforts, Flowers earned the Tiger Invitational Most Outstanding Player (MOP) honor.
In those three matches, the Wildwood, Mo., native logged 45 kills, 26 digs, 11 total blocks and eight service aces. She hit .333 in the three outings. In the win over Louisiana Monroe, Flowers recorded the third double-double (18 kills/12 digs) of her career. She also tied career-highs for digs (12) and aces (5) versus the Warhawks. She nearly had another double-double performance against Tennessee Tech with 17 kills and nine digs. Flowers had five total blocks in the win over North Alabama.
With her 45 kills last weekend, Flowers is nearing the 400 plateau for her career. She has 396 kills going into this week's action.
Flowers leads the Tigers with 139 kills and 27 service aces this season. She is second on the team in total blocks with 31. She ranks among the American Athletic Conference statistical leaders in hitting percentage (8th; .310), kills (7th; 3.39/set) and aces (1st; 0.66/set).
The Tigers return to the court with a mid-week match at Ole Miss on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. (CT). The SEC Network Plus will air the match from the Gillom Athletics Performance Center in Oxford, Miss.
