Softball Welcomes Alcorn State for Midweek Doubleheader

First pitch against the Lady Braves is set for 2 p.m.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team returns home Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader against Alcorn State. First pitch against the Lady Braves is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Tigers Softball Complex. Game two of the doubleheader will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Memphis looks to bounce back during the midweek doubleheader after dropping the three-game series to Tulsa. The Tigers come into the midweek with an 18-17 overall record and 19-1 all-time record against Alcorn State.

The only time the Braves handed Memphis a loss was on Mar. 6, 2012 on the road. Memphis has since won 12 games in a row against Alcorn State including two last season by scores of 6-0 and 10-2.

Ashley Threatt is coming off of her second American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll nod after leading the Tigers offensively last week. Threatt hit .583 (7-for-12) with a home run, a double and two runs driven in. She enters the midweek doubleheader on a six-game hitting streak and 12-game on-base streak.

Baylee Smith continues to lead Memphis overall in hitting with a .375 batting average. Threatt follows closely behind with a .348 mark and Ryleigh Aungst leads all freshmen with a .314 batting average. Aungst hit her team-leading fifth home run of the season last weekend at Tulsa.

With 21 home runs to-date, Memphis is just two shy of matching last season's total of 23. Collectively, Memphis is hitting .270 with a .970 fielding percentage.
