Tigers Sweep Alcorn In Midweek Doubleheader

Karli Perque tosses first Memphis no-hitter this season
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team bounced back with a pair of run-rule victories over Alcorn State Tuesday afternoon, including the first Memphis no-hitter since Feb. 23, 2018. Memphis won game one by a 13-2 margin before taking game two by a 12-0 score.

Memphis improves to 20-17 on the year with a three-game series against UConn coming up next weekend.

Alcorn State opened the day up with a pair of runs on two hits to take an early lead. The Tigers responded in the home half of the inning with 10 runs on eight hits to jump back out in front.

Ashley Threatt led the charge in the first inning with a six RBIs including the team's second grand slam of the season. Threatt's six RBIs is a program-record for most RBIs in a single-inning. She finished the game with that total, which is the third-most in program history.

After a scoreless second and third, the Tigers tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Memphis finished with 11 hits in game one, led by Threatt, Baylee Smith and Gracie Morton with two hits each. Mariah Nichols pitched a complete game for the Tigers, throwing 5.0 innings with five strikeouts and one earned run.

The Tigers scattered runs throughout the entirety of game two, including four in the bottom of the first inning. Regan Hadley shined in the contest with her first career two-home run game.

The first of Hadley's home runs came in the bottom of the first inning with Threatt on base. Her second knock was a three-run shot, scoring Threatt once again and Baylee Smith.

- The Tigers scored 10 runs in the first inning of game one against Alcorn, which is the most in a single inning this season.
- The 13 runs scored against Alcorn in game one is a season-high.
- Threatt extended her on-base streak to 14 games with a pair of hits in game one and a walk in game two. Her hitting streak ended at seven games after not recording a hit in the second game.
- Regan Hadley hit two home runs in game two, which was a career-high. Her second home run lifted Memphis to 24 total home runs this season, which is one more than than a year ago. She finished the game with three hits.
- Baylee Smith helped lead Memphis in game two with three hits, three runs, and three RBIs. Her back-to-back multi-hit games improve her to 13 this season.
- Memphis drew seven walks and stole seven bases in game two.
