Tigers drop marathon of a DH in Tulsa as the Golden Hurricane gets the sweep

TULSA, OKLA. –Tigers drop marathon of a doubleheader in Tulsa as the Golden Hurricane gets the sweep 11-6 and 10-2. The combined time of both games was five hours and 10 minutes.
GAME 1
Zoey LeCompte made her second appearance of the series and first start for Memphis. LeCompte had a short outing, going only an inning and a third. She gave up one run on three hits but did have four walks. Mariah Nichols then came in relief in the second. While Nichols did give up five runs on five hits, she did record a season high six strikeouts. Hallie Siems entered the game in the sixth inning with one out.
Sophomore Chenis Delce started her second game of the series for the Golden Hurricane. She went one innings giving up two runs on two hits. Kylee Nash started the second inning for Tulsa. She went three and two thirds innings, giving up three runs on six hits. Junior Samantha Pochop finished out the game for the Golden Hurricane. Pochop finished the game with six strikeouts.
The Tigers got off to a hot start in the top of the first scoring two runs. After LaNya Bates advanced to second on an error, Aylssa Dean hit a double to right scoring Bates. Kendall Lee then hit a double down the left field line, giving the Tigers the 2-0 lead.
Tulsa threatened in the bottom of the first. After walking the bases loaded with one out, LeCompte got Imani Edwards and Sarah Briers to ground out and get out of the jam. The Golden Hurricane loaded the bases in the five of their six innings at the plate.
The Golden Hurricane had a big inning in the bottom of the second, as Haley Morgan walked with the bases loaded, scoring Abby Jones. After Nichols came in the game with a 2-0 count to Delce, Delce walked scoring Kyndal Pirtle. Next batter up, Alexis Perry, hit a grand slam to left giving Tulsa a 6-2 lead.
The Tigers got some runs back in the top of the fifth. Delaney Smith singled up the middle to score Bates, then Aliana Zavala hit a two run double to right center cutting the lead to 6-5.
In the bottom of the fifth, Perry would get her fifth and sixth RBI of the game with one swing. As she hit a double down the right field line, scoring Morgan and Kylie Norwood. The Tigers would get one run back in the top of the sixth, as Hannah Bassham scored on a pass ball from third.
Norwood would get the run back in the bottom of the inning with a sac fly to left. Delce then hit an RBI single to center. Perry would then pick up her seventh RBI of the game with a single through the left side, extending their lead to 11-6.
Perry's seven RBIs is a new game record in Tulsa softball history.
GAME 2
Chyanne Ellett made her eighth start of the season for the Tigers. Ellett went one and two thirds innings, giving up eight runs on four hits. She also had two strikeouts and three walks. Kailey Hilderbrand then made her second appearance of the series for the Tigers. Hilderbrand threw four innings, giving up four hits and two runs. She also had three strikeouts.
Kassidy Scott made her third start of the season in the circle for the Golden Hurricane. She went four complete innings, giving up one run on three hits. Freshman Sara Llamas-Howell came in to close things out in the fifth inning. She went two innings, giving up one run on four hits.
Tulsa got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning, as Pirtle got an RBI walk to score Perry. Briers then scored on a fielder's choice then Pirtle scored on a walk and Jones scored on a hit by pitch. Perry added two more with an RBI double to left center making it a 6-0 ballgame. Next batter up was Briers as she cleared the bases with a two out two RBI double down the right field line, extending the lead to 8-0.
In the top of the third the Tigers got on the board. Dean hit a RBI single, scoring Bassham and cutting the lead down to 8-1. Tulsa would get the run back in the bottom of the fourth as Makayla Jackson hit a single up the middle scoring Norwood.
The Tigers stayed alive in the top of the fifth inning. With two outs, Bates hits a double to left, then scores on a RBI single by Dean and cuts the lead down to 9-2. Tulsa closed things out in the bottom of the sixth inning on a bases loaded single by Aubree Seaney.
The Tigers had a combined 16 hits in the doubleheader.
The Tigers fall to 7-29(0-12) and the Golden Hurricane improve 17-10(8-3).

The Tigers will be back at Memphis Softball Complex for their first game of a four game series with Central Florida on Friday. The Tigers and Knights will play a doubleheader on Saturday and wrap up the series on Sunday. Memphis is 16-27 all-time against UCF and 11-11 at Memphis Softball Complex.
