Tigers Come Home for AAC Series with Golden Hurricane
Apr 13, 2022 | Softball
MEMPHIS, Tenn.-Â After back-to-back American Athletic Conference series on the road, the Tigers Softball Team will return to the Bluff City for a three-game series with the Golden Hurricane of Tulsa.
Â
Memphis (15-26, 1-8 AAC) is coming off a tough weekend at UCF that saw the Knights hold the Tigers scoreless in three games. For the season, Gracie Morton leads the team with a .393 batting average with 53 hits and a team-best 28 runs scored. Along with Morton, Kendall Lee and Camryn Wineinger are both hitting above the .300 mark with a combined 40 RBI between them.
Â
Hallie Siems and Mikayla Hoschak have been the go-to's in the pitcher's circle this season for Memphis; the duo has combined for 127 strikeouts while Siems leads all pitchers with eight wins.
Â
Tulsa (12-23-1, 1-4-1 AAC) is currently on a five-game losing skid that was extended last week when they paid the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners a visit.Â
Â
Despite falling 9-0 to the reigning World Series Champions, Tulsa was able to string together some offense in the top of the third inning that saw Kylie Norwood single to center field and move Kennedy Cramer over to third base. But, Oklahoma would strand them after a strikeout and pop up to keep the Golden Hurricane off the board.
Â
For the season, Abby Jones leads Tulsa with a .336 batting average with 36 hits and 20 runs scored while Haley Morgan has a team-high three homeruns and 27 runs scored. Along with Jones and Morgan, Kylie Norwood is also batting above the .300 mark.
Â
Samantha Pochop has spent the most time in the pitcher's circle for the Golden Hurricane this season; Pochop currently leads the team with seven wins and 116 strikeouts in 114.0 innings of work.
Â
Last season when the two teams met, Tulsa took all four games against the Tigers while outscoring them 34-8.
