Tigers Trek to Greenville for AAC Cross Country Championships

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The University of Memphis cross country team is back in action on Saturday morning in Greenville, N.C., competing at the American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Overton's Lake Kristi. The meet is free for fans to attend and will be live streamed on ESPN+.
The men's 8K race will begin at 8 a.m. with the women's 6K race to follow, scheduled for 9:15 a.m. The Tiger men come into the weekend ranked No. 14 in the NCAA South Region. You can follow the meet with live results and on our official Twitter page.
"We are looking forward to competing this weekend at the conference championship meet," Memphis cross country coach Ken Frenette said. "Both teams are prepared to run their best races of the season this Saturday."
Senior Chloe Figgins has led the Tigers in all four meets this season. Figgins finished third at the Memphis Twilight Classic in personal-best time, following that up with a 24th-place finish at the Southern Showcase in personal-best time once again. At the Live in Lou Classic, the St. Charles, Mo., native finished 44th in a field of 325 runners. Last time out, she paced the Tigers will an 82nd-place finish in a field of 228 women at the Crimson Cross Country Classic.
On the men's side, Vincent Chenier has paced the Tiger men in three-of-four meets this season. The junior from Timmins, Ontario, Canada turned in a 12th-place finish at the season-opening City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic, followed by a 24th-place finish (PR) at the Southern Showcase on Sept. 15 and a top-60 finish at the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic (Sept. 30). At the Crimson Cross Country Classic, Robert Randall led the Tigers with teammate Sammy Mohamed (25:41.1) not far behind, finishing 97th and 100th, respectively, in the 218-man field.
