Memphis Heads South to Florida Atlantic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team heads back out on the road this week as they travel to Florida Atlantic to take on the Owls Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4.
The Tigers (8-17, 4-9 AAC) are looking to add wins in this divisional match-up after dropping hard fought matches last week to UTSA on Friday and Wichita State on Sunday.
"FAU is a very talented and athletic team that is again, a new conference opponent for us this season and on that we have not played in recent years." Head coach Sean Burdette said. "They play well at home and have battled the top teams in the conference very well with wins over Rice and Wichita State. It will be a quick thrip to the Sunshine State with matches being back-to-back Friday and Saturday."
FAU (14-11, 6-6 AAC) is coming off a split weekend, defeating Wichita State in five sets Friday night before being swept by UTSA on Sunday afternoon.
The Owls are hitting a .214 clip and averaging 13.8 kills per set. They are led offensively by Arianna Beckham with 259 kills this season and 3.26 points per set. FAU has also produced league leaders in Kaila Ru, Madison Dyer, and Lauryn Greene - all securing a spot in the AAC top 10 for hitting percentage.
Two Owls have tallied 60 or more blocks on the season, Ru (61) and Greene (60). Isabelle Northam has recorded 4.11 digs per set to lead FAU defensively.
Memphis is averaging 12 kills per set while putting up 1.6 blocks per set. The Tigers are third in the conference in service aces tallying 146 this season. Rylee Busse sits second in the AAC with 38 aces on the season, averaging .44 per set.
Three Tigers have tallied 150 or more kills on the season so far; Tabytha Toelke leads the team with 196 followed by Clara Bednarek with 182 and Madison Rice-Locket with 150.
Abigail Schlueter leads Memphis with 3.5 digs per set with Toelke at 2.6. Bednarek tops the Tigers with 76 blocks so far this season with Flynn following behind with 47.
