Mar 06, 2023 | Baseball
MONROE, La. – The University of Memphis baseball team is in Monroe, La., for a mid-week game with UL-Monroe to wrap up a four-game road trip. The Tigers (8-4) went 1-2 in a three-game series at Nicholls over the weekend and aim to end the trip with a win over ULM (5-7) on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Lou St. Amant Field.
"We'll turn the page on [Nicholls], go to Monroe and put ourselves in a position to win a game on Tuesday," head coach Kerrick Jackson said. "We'll look to do some positive things there and see if we can start playing a little better as we move forward."
Memphis started the road trip off with a 3-2 win over Nicholls on March 3 before dropping the final two games by scores of 9-8 and 9-2. Dalton Fowler earned the win on Friday night, throwing six innings of five-hit baseball and striking out nine while allowing just one earned run. He lowered his season ERA to 3.31. Dalton Kendrick earned his third save of the season in the win and sports a 1.64 season ERA. He was named to the American Athletic Conference's (AAC) Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts.
The Warhawks will enter Tuesday coming off an 0-3 weekend at Incarnate Word after winning a mid-week game with Grambling State, 14-1, on Feb. 28. Offensively, ULM is led by Riley Davis who comes into the contest batting .343 with four doubles and seven RBI. Michelle Artzberger leads the Warhawks with three home runs and 15 RBI, batting .250 on the season.
The all-time series between Memphis and ULM is tied at 11-11. The two schools have not played since 2013 in Memphis when the Tigers won the series 2-1.
Right-handed pitcher David Warren (2-0) is scheduled to make his third start and fourth overall appearance on the mound for the Tigers this season.
All fans will receive free admission to Tiger home games in February and March, and kids ages 12 and under get in free all season long. Half-season ticket packages are available at GoTigersGo.com for all games beginning in April.
