Tigers Back in Bluff City to Host Florida Atlantic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team returns to the Bluff City to host Florida Atlantic in an American Athletic Conference series Friday through Sunday at Tiger Softball Complex.
The Tigers (3-22, 0-6 AAC) dropped their series in the Queen City last weekend against Charlotte. Memphis is looking to turn things around and get back in the win column this week as it matches up against AAC newcomer Florida Atlantic for the second, third and fourth times ever. Last time the two teams met, the Owls took the game with a 5-0 win (Feb. 26, 2017).
Taniyah Brown recorded a strong performance in Charlotte, going .500 at the plate with two doubles and two runs scored, slugging .750 for the Tigers.
Memphis is currently batting .214 as a team with McKaylee Polk leading the Tigers individually with a .327 average. Arianna Cox-Cole follows closely behind hitting .297 so far on the season. Polk and Cox-Cole have each notched 19 hits in 23 games played.
Zoe Adebayo leads Memphis with 10 RBI on the season, followed closely by Khamiyah Brown who has tallied seven. Madison Berner and Polk have each drove in six apiece.
RV/NR Florida Atlantic (24-7, 5-1 AAC) is coming off a 6-0 victory over Florida International on Tuesday night. The Owls are boasting a four-game win streak, sweeping their series against UAB last weekend to carry momentum into Memphis.
The Owls are batting .307 as a team while holding opponents to a .242 average. Florida Atlantic has five players hitting over .300: Jesiana Mora (.425), Kiley Channell (.386,) Kamryn Jackson (.338), Presley Leebrick (.333) and Trinity Schlotterbeck (.324). The Owls are currently leading the AAC in runs scored (190) and RBI (174).
The Owls have a team ERA of 2.63 and are led in the circle by dual threat Schlotterbeck (11 wins, 2.34 ERA, 74.0 IP)
