Tigers Fall to Roadrunners Under Friday Night Lights

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Memphis softball team fell in game two of its American Athletic Conference series against UTSA, 11-1, under the Friday night lights at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio.
The Tigers (3-27, 0-11 AAC) struggled early, allowing the Roadrunners to take a quick lead in the matchup. Arianna Cox-Cole scored the lone run for Memphis, tallying her second home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Kennedy Semien got things moving for the Tigers in her first at-bat singling through the middle in the top of the first frame, but would be left stranded as the inning came to a close.
• The Roadrunners got on the board as Jaylen Prichard hit an RBI single up the middle and then advanced two bases on the throw, knocking in Madi Hayes in the bottom of the first. Prichard crossed the dish to double the lead in the next at-bat as Jensen singled down the line in left. UTSA added one more run before closing the inning.
• Taryn Madlock fired off a solo shot over the left field wall adding to the Roadrunners advantage in the bottom of the second frame.
• Marley Maness and Presley Morris connected to throw out a Roadrunner attempting to steal for the third out of the inning.
• Cox-Cole sent her second home run of the season over the left field fence, cutting into the deficit in the top of the third frame.
• UTSA extended its lead in the bottom of the third as Camryn Robillard hit an RBI single to center allowing Jensen to reach home. The Roadrunners added one more as Kylie Forney hit a sacrifice fly to right field bringing in Sophie Campbell.
• UTSA put up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth frame as Prichard hit a two-run single to left field bringing in Caton Letbetter and Madlock. The Roadrunners continued to widen the gap with three more runs in the inning.

• Four Tigers recorded hits in the game: Zoe Adebayo, Khamiyah Brown, Cox-Cole, and Semien.
• Cox-Cole notched her second home run of the season in her first at-bat of the game.
• Rylee Dugar got the start in the circle tossing 2.0 innings before Abigail Morgan entered in relief. Morgan recorded one inning of work with one strikeout. Dugar re-entered the game in the bottom of the fourth frame, finishing the game with 3.0 innings of work and one strikeout.
