No. 46 Memphis Upends No. 58 Wichita State, 4-2, for Fifth Straight Victory

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 46 University of Memphis women's tennis team secured its fifth-straight victory Sunday afternoon, defeating No. 58 Wichita State 4-2 at Leftwich Tennis Center.
The Tigers improved to 14-6 overall, while the Shockers dropped to 10-7.
Wichita State controlled the top two courts in doubles action and came away with the early point.
In familiar territory, Memphis responded with a dominant showing in singles.
Leonie Moeller nearly blanked Natsumi Kurashi on court two (6-1, 6-0) to get the Tigers on the board. Camila Soares then followed with a 6-4, 7-5 sweep on court one to put Memphis in front 2-1.
After the Shockers took the decision at the sixth spot, Emily Meyer won in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) at the No. 4 position to push the Tigers back in front.
With the last two courts in their respective third sets, Alice Amendola came from behind to finish off Wichita State's Anne Knuettel 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 on court five to clinch the victory for Memphis.
UP NEXT
The Tigers continue their homestand next weekend with a 10 a.m. match on Sunday, April 7 against Middle Tennessee.
