McDaniel Earns American Conference Honorable Mention Recognition

IRVING, Texas – Memphis guard Dug McDaniel earned American Conference Honorable Mention recognition following a standout performance that powered the Tigers to an 88-67 victory over Alabama State Monday night at FedExForum.
McDaniel delivered one of the most efficient shooting nights of his career, scoring a game-high 23 points while tying a career best with seven made three-pointers. He finished 7-of-12 from beyond the arc, added three assists and two steals, while setting the tone for Memphis' most complete offensive performance of the season.
The victory snapped a three-game skid for the Tigers (5-7), who closed nonconference play on a high note heading into the start of league action. Playing their second game in three days, Memphis posted season highs in both shooting efficiency and perimeter production, finishing 50.8 percent from the floor (32-of-63) and 43.3 percent from three-point range while knocking down 13 triples.
McDaniel scored 14 points in the first half as Memphis jumped out to a 42-33 halftime lead, then helped ignite an 8-0 run to open the second half that pushed the margin to as many as 23 points. The Tigers never allowed Alabama State to close within 15 points after the break.
The senior's seven made three-pointers are tied for the fifth-most in a single game in program history and marked his 12th career 20-point outing.
