Tigers Set for Midweek Contest at Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Memphis softball (16-30, 4-17 AAC) hits the midway point of its road stand in Florida with a nonconference game against Bethune-Cookman (19-26, 12-8 SWAC) at 4 p.m. CST on Wednesday.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis looks to rebound after being swept by South Florida and falling in nine of its last 10 games.
Zoe Adebayo has moved into the team lead in games played and has an OPS of 1.110. Her nine home runs are the sixth-most in a single season in program history. She also leads Memphis in walks (29), RBI (31), is tied for the lead in doubles with eight and is second in batting average with a mark of .310 this season. She is tied with Neely Taylor and Kennedy Semien with eight doubles. Taylor did not appear in the series against South Florida. Semien is second on the team in RBI with 19 and has the most runs scored (30) for the Tigers.
A pair of Tigers came through with multiple RBI in the previous series against South Florida, as Faith Brown went 3-for-8 with a double and 2 RBI, while Ariel Davis also came through with a two-RBI performance against the Bulls.
Freshman Lyrical Bennett has moved into the team lead with 100.2 innings thrown, including seven complete games. She and Rylee Dugar have each made 25 total appearances and 14 starts in the circle. Bennett has the lower ERA with a 4.66, while Dugar has the team lead in strikeouts with 55.

Bethune-Cookman also looks to have a stronger result after being swept by Florida A&M. The Wildcats had previously swept two Southwestern Athletic Conference opponents, Mississippi Valley State and Alabama A&M.
Joslynn Davis and Emma Bradley-Tse lead the Wildcat offense in batting average (.353 and .350) and games started (45). Three Bethune-Cookman players (Davis, Bradley-Tse, Shania Owens) rank within the top 50 in stolen bases in the NCAA. Owens, who is also batting .333 with a team-high slugging percentage of .911, is eighth in stolen bases nationally with 33.
In the circle, Bethune-Cookman has had a pair of pitchers, Halyne Gonzalez and Alyssa Lopez, who have thrown nearly 84 percent of the Wildcats' innings. Gonzalez has totaled 89 strikeouts with a 3.75 ERA over 140 innings pitched, while Alyssa Lopez has a team-leading 2.05 ERA with 79 strikeouts over 95.2 innings.
