
Tigers to Host Central Arkansas Tuesday for Final Home Game of Season

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball team is set to host Central Arkansas at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field on Tuesday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. for the 34th and final home game of the season. The game can be streamed live on ESPN+ with Jeff Brightwell on the call.
FedExPark will play host to the 17th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Memphis leading the all-time series, 13-3. Last season, the Tigers powered their way to a 14-4, eight-inning win in Memphis as they tied a program record with seven home runs. Earlier this season, the Tigers went on the road and run-ruled the Bears, 13-3, on April 15.
Memphis (21-30, 8-16 AAC) is coming off a three-game American Athletic Conference series at home vs. Tulane where the Tigers fell 3-2 on Friday night, 3-0 on Saturday and then picked up an important 15-6 win over the Green Wave in the series finale.
With one week remaining in the regular season, the Tigers are currently tied with Wichita State (16-34, 8-16 AAC) for the final spot in the AAC Tournament field. Memphis wraps up its season with a trip to play the Shockers in Wichita, Kansas, this coming weekend with a trip to Clearwater, Florida, and a conference tournament berth on the line.
Central Arkansas (19-29, 12-15 ASUN) will roll in to Memphis after dropping a weekend series to Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tennessee, over the weekend, two games to one – picking up an 11-7 win on Saturday.
The Tigers will give LHP Isaac Lucas (3-0, 6.07 ERA) his first start on the mound since April 19 vs. Rice. The Bears will counter with RHP Bryce Parlin (2 IP, 18.00 ERA) on the mound.
Tiger catcher Jonah Sutton is tied for 14th nationally in runners thrown out from behind the plate (18) and is now 18-of-37 (49%) from behind the dish. As a team, Memphis has thrown out 39 percent of runners stealing on the season (24-of-61) as Justin Fogel is 5-for-21 on the year and freshman Jack Pitts is 1-for-3.
After ranking 12th nationally with 54 double plays turned a season ago, the Tigers have turned 47 through 51 games to lead The American and rank sixth nationally in that category. Memphis trails national leader UCLA (53) by six.
Central Arkansas is led offensively by Bryce Cermenelli (.395 AVG. / 23 RBI), Zeb Allen (.304 AVG. / 16 2B / 9 HR / 34 RBI) and Preston Curtis (.287 AVG. / 12 2B / 6 HR / 33 RBI).
