Gorman Joins Mulrooney's Staff as Assistant Coach

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men's soccer head coach Richard Mulrooney announced the addition of Tom Gorman to the coaching staff on Wednesday.
"I'm very excited to be bringing Tom in," Mulrooney said. "He checked all the boxes that we were looking for and during the process, we loved his energy. He brings things to the program that are important to us and there will be no drop off whatsoever. At the end of the day, we became a better team by bringing him on the staff and we are excited for him to be a part of the family now."
Gorman joins the Tiger staff after two seasons as an assistant coach at George Fox University. While with the Bruins, Gorman helped the team improve its overall win total by nine and its conference win total by six from 2023 to 2024. He also served as the ODP Boys head coach in the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA), along with holding multiple roles with Oregon Premier FC as a head boys competitive coach, assistant coach of the ECNL Boys Academy and the age group coordinator.
"I am excited to be down here in Memphis," said Gorman. "I think there is a lot of alignment between the direction the coaches are taking Memphis and how I can contribute to help them achieve those goals. I am ready to continue to push the program forward and keep providing a fantastic experience for the student-athletes here. "
Prior to coaching at the youth level and collegiate level in Oregon, Gorman served as a performance and video analyst for Oregon State men's soccer in the summer of 2023. He also held multiple positions with the Oregon Valley Futbol Alliance in Corvallis. From 2022 to 2023, Gorman had roles as the U23 performance analyst in USL League Two and was the operations manager for three teams in the USL League Two and Cascadia Premier League. He also spent two seasons as an assistant and head coach at the U15, U16 and U19 levels for the USL Academy and OYSA.
Gorman holds two bachelor's degrees from Oregon State in business analytics and managerial economics.
