Tigers Fall, 89-78, at Florida Atlantic
Jan 11, 2026 | Men's Basketball
BOCA RATON, Fla. - Memphis basketball's three-game winning streak came to an end Sunday afternoon as the Tigers fell 89-78 to Florida Atlantic at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. Despite a career-high 21 points from 7-foot-1 center Aaron Bradshaw, FAU's physicality inside and dominance on the glass proved too much to overcome.
The Owls (11-6, 3-1 American) controlled the rebounding battle, 46-29, and finished with nine blocked shots, constantly disrupting Memphis around the rim. Bradshaw was efficient offensively, going 9-for-15 from the floor and adding five rebounds, while Dug McDaniel chipped in 12 points.
Memphis (7-8, 2-1) showed some resilience late, trimming a 16-point deficit to eight inside the final five minutes after an 8-0 run sparked by a Quante Berry 3-pointer. Berry finished with nine points and scored six straight in the final minute to make it 85-78, but FAU answered with interior buckets down the stretch to seal the outcome.
The Tigers trailed just 36-34 at halftime after closing the first half on a 12-5 run, capped by a Julius Thedford steal and score at the buzzer. However, FAU seized control coming out of the break with a 31-16 surge that pushed the lead to as many as 17.
Florida Atlantic was led by Kanaan Carlyle's 17 points, while Xander Pintelon (13 points, eight rebounds) and Devin Williams (12 points, six rebounds, seven blocks) anchored a dominant frontcourt performance.
