Diego Wins Individual Crown at Colleton River, Tigers Finish Third

BLUFFTON, S.C. – Memphis men's golf closed the 14th annual Colleton River Collegiate with a third-place finish, posting a 54-hole total of 4-under par on the par-72, 7,403-yard Dye Course at Colleton River Club.
After opening the tournament at 4-over, the Tigers flipped the script with back-to-back rounds of 4-under to climb the leaderboard and secure a share of third alongside Minnesota. Memphis trailed only team champion Kentucky (-11) and Ohio State (-10) in the 15-team field that featured multiple nationally ranked programs.
Junior Diego Lourenco turned in the tournament's top performance, finishing 10-under par with rounds of 70-68-68 to claim his first individual victory of the season and clear the field by two strokes.
His climb up the leaderboard began with a 2-under 70 in the opening round before positioning himself firmly in contention with a 4-under 68 in round two. Diego closed the tournament with another 4-under 68 to secure his third-career victory after beginning the final round one stroke back and in third place. He was the only player in the field to shoot at least 68 twice.
Over 54 holes, the Orleans, France native totaled 12 birdies and an eagle, finished second in the 92-person field in par-3 scoring (2.75, -3), and limited mistakes to just four bogeys all week. His consistency, highlighted by 37 pars and command of the demanding Pete Dye layout, proved to be the difference in earning the individual championship and leading Memphis to another podium finish.
Lourenco found himself just 3-under par through his first 26 holes of play,but played bogey-free golf over his final 28 holes to shoot 7-under with seven birdies.
Yixiang Wang added a steady even-par performance (73-70-73) to finish tied for 19th, ranking second in the field with 41 pars. Christian Morneau (+3) and Tobey Kim (+4) each posted counting scores in the final round, while Cian O'Connor rounded out the lineup.
Curro Martinez played as the Tigers' lone individual and finished tied for 39th with a 3-over, 219 (73-74-72).
