Volleyball Heads to Lafayette for the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic

LAFAYETTE, La. - The University of Memphis volleyball team travels to Louisiana this weekend for the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic inside Earl K. Long Gym.

The Tigers open tournament play against Southeastern Louisiana at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 before closing the weekend against host Louisiana at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5. Neither match will be broadcast on ESPN+, but live stats will be available in the link above.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis seeks its first win of the season after dropping three matches in Nashville last weekend. Caitlyn Little led the Tigers' offense with 49 kills, averaging 4.08 kills per set. Little recorded a career-high 26 kills, 18 digs and 31.5 points against the College of Charleston.

Abigail Schlueter earned American Conference Honorable Mention honors after posting 51 digs and 10 assists on the weekend. The senior logged 20-plus digs against both Lipscomb and College of Charleston.

SCOUTING THE FIELD
Southeastern Louisiana (0-3) enters the weekend following three losses at the Ole Miss Invitational. Kyra McKelvey leads the Lions' offense with 41 kills and earned Ole Miss Invitational All-Tournament Team honors. Ashley Richardson recorded 62 assists and 24 digs across nine sets, while Gracie Brown posted a career-high eight blocks against Northern Arizona.

Louisiana (1-2) comes off a 3-0 sweep over McNeese after dropping matches to Oklahoma and Texas State at the Texas State Invitational. In the win over the Cowgirls, Lolo Lambert led the Ragin' Cajuns with 12 kills, while Ryleigh Garis and Rhyan Miciotto each reached double figures in assists.

THE SERIES BETWEEN THE LIONS & RAGIN' CAJUNS
Memphis holds a 2-0 all-time series lead over Southeastern Louisiana, winning both previous meetings in Memphis. Friday marks the first neutral-site matchup between the programs.
Saturday marks the 15th meeting between Memphis and Louisiana, with the Tigers holding a 9-5 series lead. Memphis won the most recent matchup in 2016, though Louisiana claimed the 1997 meeting in Lafayette.
