Men's Soccer Rebounds With Big Win

Springfield, Mo. - The University of Memphis men's soccer team finished the Southwest Missouri Invitational with a 1-1 record after dismantling the University of New Mexico in Springfield on Sunday. Sean Fraser collected his first hat trick of the season as Memphis rolled to a 6-2 victory over the Lobos.
The Tigers got off to an early start when Nick Glaser scored off of a Lars Thorstensen assist seven minutes into the contest. Chris Schmidt talleyed his first goal of the season to make the score 2-0 at the half. Fraser then scored three of the Tigers final four goals, and Thorstensen added one himself before the Tigers were done.
"After Friday's game, it showed real character on the part of our squad to come out and play this well against a team of this quality," said head coach Richie Grant. The whole team really stepped up."
The win brings the Tigers' record to 3-1 on the season, and they return home to face Western Kentucky on Wednesday evening, September 13. The game will be played at Echles Field and will begin at 7:00
