MEMPHIS MEN'S SOCCER STARTS CONFERENCE SEASON RIGHT

Cincinnati, Ohio - The University of Memphis men's soccer team defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats by a score of 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati. it was the first conference game for the Tigers and brings their overall record to 4-2 on the season.
Cincinnati jumped ahead early in the match, when forward Myron Vaughn scored in the seventh minute to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. Eight minutes later, Tiger forward Lars Thorstensen got through the defense and scored off of a Sean Fraser pass. The Tigers would go into the half tied at one, but three minutes into the second half, Thorstensen struck again off of a feed from Justin Stralka. The Tigers were unable to muster any more offense, but they would not need to, as they were able to keep the Bearcats out of the nets.
Memphis next travels to Charlotte, N.C. to face Charlotte and Central Florida in the Charlotte Puma Classic this weekend. The Tigers will face Charlotte on Friday evening at 7:00 and Central Florida Sunday morning at 11:00.
