MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team (10-5, 3-1 C-USA) picked up its third Conference USA win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Saint Louis (6-9 overall), Friday.
The Lady Tigers opened with a sweep of the three doubles matches before victories at 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles secured the Lady Tigers' 10th win of the season.
Saint Louis scored its two points with wins at No. 1 and 3 singles as Melisa Lemus defeated Sabrina Lindemann, 6-2, 6-2 and Amy O'Handley battled Sumitra Rao in a three set match. O'Handley won the third-set tiebreak, 11-9 to win 1-6, 6-1, 11-9. The Lady Tigers will play two home matches, Saturday, beginning with a morning match against SIU-Carbondale. Both the women's and men's teams will then be in action beginning at 2 p.m. on the U of M courts. The women will host Troy State while the men host Georgia State.
