Oct 27, 2017 | Men's Soccer
Memphis has two more remaining regular season matches on its schedule
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team will face UConn in their final road match of the regular season Saturday evening. The contest against the Huskies is slated to kickoff at 6 p.m. CT in Storrs, Conn.
The Tigers head to Storrs after a double-overtime draw against USF last Saturday afternoon. Once USF took an early 1-0 lead, goalkeeper Jake Leeker finished the match with eight saves. Charles Blankenship finished a cross from Burke Fahling in the 40th minute to tie up the contest shortly before half.
Blankenship's goal puts him in a three-way tie for the most goals on the team. Head coach Richard Mulrooney looks to lead his squad to finish the year on a high note on the road before closing out the regular season at home on Nov. 4. The draw on Saturday moved Memphis to 3-7-4 and 1-2-2 in American Athletic Conference play.
Four teams qualify for the AAC Tournament which will be held at the No. 1 seed at the end of the regular season. The Tigers are currently sitting in sixth place, four points shy of cracking the top four. Only SMU and UConn have solidified a spot in the four-team tournament.
