Memphis faces UConn after almost a full week since its last contest. The Tigers last played in their conference opener against Cincinnati on Saturday, taking a 3-1 win over the hosting Bearcats. Memphis opened its conference play with a goal from senior Sam Ashton and junior Christoforos Kourtis' first two goals of the season. With the win, Memphis extended its winning streak to four matches in a row.
Without a weekday match, Ashton has fallen to third in the American in goals, with eight scored on the year. He remains first in the conference in points per game, scoring 2.25 points per match. His eight goals are the most by a Tiger since Mark Sherrod scored 12 goals in 2012.
Kourtis, who scored his first goal via PK, logged the fourth penalty goal of the season for the Tigers. Memphis is one of five programs nationally to have scored four goals on penalty kicks.
Between the pipes, goalkeeper Parker Lackland carries a 1.34 goals against average and has logged two shutouts this year. With the win over Cincinnati, Lackland hit double-digits for career wins, now having 10 victories in the Blue and Gray.
The all-time series between Memphis and UConn is tied at 3-3. The Huskies took last year's match with a 2-0 win.
