Softball Falls To Tulsa Saturday

Ashley Threatt continued to lead Memphis this weekend, going 3-for-4 from the plate
TULSA, Okla. – Early runs scored proved to be not enough as the University of Memphis softball team suffered a 10-4 setback to Tulsa Saturday afternoon on the road. Memphis slides to 18-16 overall and 2-4 in American Athletic Conference play.

On a cold and windy afternoon, the Tigers jumped out early over the Golden Hurricane with three runs in the top of the first inning. With two outs and Delaney Smith on second, Memphis strung together three-straight hits, including a double by Gracie Morton, to score three runs.

Tulsa answered with one in the bottom half of the first and the Tigers immediately returned the favor in the second. Memphis tallied three-straight base runners by way of a pair of hits and an error before a ground out by Ryleigh Aungst drove in Delaney Smith.

The Golden Hurricane tacked on six runs in the second and three in the fifth while holding the Tigers scoreless for the remainder of the contest. Memphis pitched by committee in game two and Bayleigh Wisher was dealt the loss after coming in relief for Karli Perque. The Tigers struck out four hitters including three by Mariah Nichols.

Kailey Hilderbrand wrapped up the game for Memphis after putting in 1.2 innings of scoreless work.

Memphis scattered nine hits while allowing seven by the Golden Hurricane. Ashley Threatt recorded a team-leading three hits on the afternoon while Aungst and Morton led Memphis with two RBIs each.
