Softball Falls to Long Beach in Final Game of College Challenge

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico. – The Tigers competed in their final game of the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with their second look at Long Beach State. While Memphis made a comeback, the 49er's offense would explode midway through the game and the Tigers suffered the 8-5 loss.
Following today's games, Memphis moves to 2-3 overall.

How it happened:
- Long Beach took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning when Bickar and Olson recorded back-to-back RBI hits, all of which were unearned.
- Memphis would get their first run of the game in the bottom half of the 2nd after Megan Chism put down a sac bunt and forced the 49er's defense into their first error of the game, which allowed Gracie Morton to score.
- Sam Ibison would reach base on Long Beach's second error of the inning that brought Chism across home plate to cut their deficit to one.
- Long Beach added a combined four runs in the 4th and 5th innings to extend their lead out to as much as 7-2.
- The Tigers got two runs back in the bottom of the 5th when Kendall Lee singled to center field that brought Camryn Wineingerand Alexis Dale across home plate to make it a 7-4 game.
- LBSU added one final run in the top of the 6th inning when Inae drew a bases loaded walk.
- Zoe Adebayo would send a ball into right field in the top of the 6th inning that brought LaNya Bates home and cut Memphis' deficit to 8-5, but they would be unable to rally back and suffered the 8-5 loss.
- Alexis Dale recorded her second multi-hit game of the weekend after going 2-4 at the plate today.
- Kendall Lee had two of the three Tiger RBI in today's game.
- Zoey LeCompte got the start today while Memphis went deep into their bench; Jenna Gibson, Kailey Hilderbrand, Mikayla Hoschak and Hallie Siems all made appearances today.
- The Tigers will be back stateside next weekend when they take part in the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational where they will play against Austin Peay, Belmont, Boston College and FGCU.
- First pitch for Memphis is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday morning.
