Shockers Offense Too Much for Tigers

WICHITA, Kan. – After hosting Central Arkansas for a mid-week matchup, the tigers got back to American Athletic Conference play when they made the trip up to Wichita. While Memphis scored early, the dominating offense of the Shockers was too much for the Tigers and they suffered the 10-1 loss.
Following today's games, Memphis moves to 16-30 overall and 2-11 in AAC play.

Following today's games, Memphis moves to 16-30 overall and 2-11 in AAC play.
Game One: MEMPHIS: 1, WICHTIA STATE: 10 (5 INNINGS)
How it happened:
- Memphis got on the board first, scoring off an RBI-single to center from Camryn Wineinger that brought Gracie Morton home for the 1-0 lead.
- The Shocker offense would explode in the bottom half of the inning with six runs to take the lead.
- Wichita State would go on to score two more runs in both the third and fourth innings to further extend their lead.
- Wineinger would reach base again in the top of the fourth inning when she sent a ball to right field for her second hit of the night.
- Memphis nearly got another run in the top of the fifth inning when Rachel Britton singled up the middle and Presley Morris advanced to third and went for home plate. But, WSU would get the throw from center field in time and get the game-ending out and hand the Tigers the 10-1 loss.
- Along with Wineinger and Britton, Alyssa Dean, Gracie Morton and Taylor Smrt all picked up hits tonight.
- Mikayla Hoschak got the start today while Kailey Hilderbrand and Zoey LeCompte both made appearances tonight.
UP NEXT
- The Tigers will continue play with the Shockers tomorrow. Coverage of the game can be found on ESPN+ beginning at 2 p.m. Memphis and Wichita State will finish the series on Sunday afternoon beginning at 12 p.m.
- The Tigers will return to the Bluff City on Tuesday when they host Ole Miss at the Tiger Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. with coverage on ESPN+.
