MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tigers drop their match 3-0 to Southern Miss on night two of the Beale Street Challenge. Memphis struggled on the attack with 20 errors to its 33 kills on the night, however freshman Autumn Flynn pushed a .529 clip, with nine kills on 17 attempts and zero errors.

Memphis started the match off strong, scoring the first point off a kill from Hannah Jones and taking the lead early.
Southern Miss pushed ahead, going on a 10-2 run, leading to a Memphis timeout. The Tigers claimed the point out of the timeout with a block from Jordan Heatherly and Flynn.
The Tigers and the Golden Eagles exchanged point-for-point through the middle of the first set, either side unable to create a run.
Southern Miss went on a 4-1 run late in set one, forcing a Memphis timeout. The Golden Eagles would go on to take set one 25-18.
Southern Miss took and early lead, capitalizing off a big presence at the net from Mia Wesley and Memphis errors.
The Tigers gathered some momentum out of the media timeout with a block from Clara Bednarek, Loren Robertson and Tabytha Toelke, bringing the set within three points.
The Golden Eagles took set two 25-18, after taking advantage of attacking and service errors from the Tigers.
Southern Miss started set three off strong, taking the lead early and forcing a Memphis timeout after going on a 4-0 run. The Golden Eagles extended the run to 9-0 before the Tigers were able to string together a few points of their own.
Memphis began to close the gap with kills from Madison Rice-Locket, Toelke and Flynn, forcing a Southern Miss timeout midway through the set.
Southern Miss went on to take the set 25-17, and the match 3-0.

Notables

Two Tigers hit over .300: Flynn (.529) and Bednarek (.364).
Flynn also led the Tigers with nine kills, followed by Rice-Locket with seven.
Robertson recorded a double-double with 23 assists and 16 digs.

Up Next: The Tigers will close out the Beale Street Challenge Saturday, Sept. 16, against Little Rock at 2 p.m.
