Tigers Take Down Niners 3-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis Volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over Charlotte Friday night at the Larry O. Finch Center.
The Tigers (8-9, 2-3 AAC) got back in the win column after a 3-1 win against the Charlotte Forty-Niners (4-14, 1-4). Hannah Jones led the team with 13 kills, while Clara Bednarek followed behind with 11. Tabytha Toelke, Jasmyn Tate, and Tiffany Snook all recorded ten kills as well.
Charlotte took an early 10-5 lead in the opening set. Memphis used a 9-2 run to tie the score at 14. With kills from Toelke, Bednarek, and Jones, the Tigers pushed through at the end to take the first set 25-22.
Memphis found themselves in a hole to start the second set, down 8-4. The Tigers fought back using back-to-back aces, to pull ahead 15-11. Memphis kept their foot on the gas ending the set on a 9-2 run ultimately winning 25-16.
The third set started with back-and-forth action until Memphis pulled ahead 17-14. The Niners closed the gap to even the score at 18. Both teams battled till the end, unfortunately, Charlotte came out on top, taking the set 25-23.
Charlotte carried their momentum into the fourth set, jumping out to an 11-5 lead. Memphis never gave up, going on a 7-1 run, to knot the score at 13. The Tigers went on to seal the deal taking the fourth 25-20.
