Jan 19, 2025 | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Memphis Track and Field's women's 4x400-meter relay broke a school record on Saturday night at the Vanderbilt Invitational, running a time of 3:40.42.
The effort – run by Kameron Scille, Ivory Davis, Dejona Simpson and Gabrielle Cross – broke a 12-year program record by over a second, placing second in the competition.
"Incredible performance by our relay team to set a school record," said head coach Kevin Robinson. "All around, it was a solid start to the season for both programs. Some PRs, some top tier finishes and some very composed competition from lots of kids, older and new. Excited to see where this season takes us."
The women's relay squad was one of six top-four finishes for Memphis at a meet loaded with competition. Gizel Clayton placed second in the 60m hurdles; Jadaja Baxter placed third in the 60 meters, as did Elonzo Burroughs in the men's 200 meters. The men's 4x4 relay team of Prior Ochonogor, Kouto Anyika, Bryson Wilson and Courtland Noble placed third, and Sascha Salesius Schmidt finished fifth in the shot put.
Full meet results can be found above. The Tigers will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Bob Teel Invitational in Columbia, Missouri.
