Tigers to Travel to UAB on Wednesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team is set to travel Birmingham, Alabama for a midweek conference match against UAB on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (10-17, 1-11 American) comes into this match after dropping a four-set battle to North Texas on Friday evening at the UNT Volleyball Center.
Zaniah Hoskins led the Tiger offense seven kills and 8.5 points, while Jasmyn Tate followed with six kills and 6.5 points. Hoskins now has 263 kills, averaging 3.43 kills per set.
Setter Sydney Marshall tallied 23 assists, giving her 353 on the season at an average of 5.04 assists per set.
Janyah Henderson led the team in blocks with five, including one solo block. The junior middle blocker ranks eighth in the American Conference in blocks per game at 1.07.
Abigail Schlueter put up 15 digs in the previous match to give her 339 on the season, which ranks third in the American Conference. The junior libero is averaging 3.49 digs per set this season.

UAB (10-14, 3-9 American) won its previous match at Tulane in four sets on Sunday afternoon.
The Blazers have put up 198 blocks this season averaging 2.22 blocks per set which is fourth in the conference.
Jorda Crook recorded 25 kills and 27.5 points against Tulane, which is her career high in both categories. Crook has now put up 20-plus kills in four matches this season. Crook was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Annastiina Tarkkanen tallied 41 assists in the win, averaging 10.25 assists per set. Tarkkanen also put up 13 digs for her third double-double of the season.
Delaney Bowser was UAB's leader in digs with 15 to give her 248 digs on the season. Bowser currently averages 2.88 digs per set.
Summer Snead led the Blazers in blocks with six block assists in the win, resulting in recognition as an American Conference weekly honorable mention.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UAB
Memphis leads the all-time series with the Blazers, 38-22, but fell at home to UAB earlier this season on Oct. 29. The Tigers have not won in Birmingham since the 2016 season.
