
No. 13 Memphis Defeats No. 15 Jacksonville State with School Record Effort

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 13 University of Memphis rifle team finished on top Saturday, defeating No. 15 Jacksonville State, 4732 to 4678, behind two program records inside R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range in Memphis.
The Tigers dominated in both relays, winning 2340-2302 in smallbore and then 2383-2376 in air rifle.
Memphis' aggregate total and its mark in air rifle were both program records.
"I'm extremely proud of the way the team shot today, "Memphis head coach Morgan Phillips said. "It was a great day for our whole counting team and really shows the depth we have. We are thrilled to have set two new program records and knew that we had it in us all season.
"It's great to be shooting this well at this point in the season, especially heading into the NCAA qualifier next weekend. We are feeling confident and hoping to keep the momentum going into our last couple matches this season."

KEY MOMENTS
- Katrina Demerle led the way for Memphis on the day, finishing as the top individual with a season-high aggregate score of 1185. She won air rifle with a school record-tying 598, and finished second in smallbore (587).
- Gabriela Zych closed out the win in second place overall with an 1182 aggregate behind the top smallbore score of the day (588).
- Kenlee Ewton took third overall with an 1178 aggregate. Her 597 air rifle was the second best total of the day.
- Memphis posted the top three smallbore scores in the win, with Sophie Cruz (584) following Zych and Demerle.
